It is every young girl’s dream to look the best they’ve ever looked come prom night. Wearing the most beautiful and modern looking gown is what everyone is striving for. Not forgetting shoes, accessories, hair, and make-up, a prom can be quite an expensive event. While it might not always be in the parent’s budgets to go all out, there are handy tips when it comes to shopping for a prom gown when resources are scarce.
Buying An Affordable Gown
Not all prom gowns cost an arm and a leg. There are department stores that do stock affordable stylish gowns that look great and are made of some top of the line fabrics. Usually mass-produced, you may not have the gown that your favorite actress wore on the red carpet, but you will save hundreds of dollars. These gowns are still extremely beautiful and come in all sizes and designs. Read more... (877 words, estimated 3:30 mins reading time)

The average wedding in the United States today costs more than $20,000 – before you keel over, you have to remember as you are writing those checks that this is going to be a special, once-in-a-lifetime day and that it’s worth spending a little extra to make it memorable! With that said, you shouldn’t spend a dime on your wedding until you know what your budget allows for each item. It is recommended that 5% of your budget be allocated to your wedding invitation package, which would include your invitation, response card, directions, reception invite, and all corresponding envelopes. If you’re also having your wedding programs, place cards, table cards and menus printed for your reception, bump that up to 8%. When considering that your Save the Dates and Invitation is the first glimpse your guests will receive into the grand affair that you dream your wedding to be, you want to be sure you’re sending the right message with the quality of your invitation. As a broad guideline, think of further allocating 10% to your wedding attire, 8% to your photographer, 5% to your cake, 8% to your flowers, 45% to your reception and the remainder to various costs and items you want to make it YOUR special day! How to pick a bridal gown
well, the day has finally arrived, getting married! The day we have dreamed of forever has arrived. The day in which we are princesses, our day!!
As in every dream, once we wake up there are many details, and they are not all nice, or, as they say, God is in the details. So let’s go forward and dive into the process of picking a gown.
The first item to address is deciding what our budget is. Of course, as soon as we find our dream gown we’ll exceed from the budget, but, at least, we’ll begin with a plan. This gives us the feeling that we are acting through our brain and not through our emotions, although our emotions will take over very soon.
The bride to be cries very easily because of a seam in the wrong place, a cleavage or a fabric issue. This is part of the deal and if there’s a crying mom around it only adds to the party. In short, get used to it, there is nothing we can do about it, our emotions control us.
The price – the price depends on whether the dress is a ready-made or custom designed. Certainly, a designer ready-made bridal gown from a well-known designer could cost more than a custom designed gown by a designer who is less renowned.
However, generally custom designed dresses are more expensive.
Design style – there are many bridal gown designers, each with their own unique style ranging from designers of grand glittery bridal gowns, magnificent and splendid befitting a princess – whereby the bride finds herself mummified inside a corset that does not allow her to breathe, but gives the illusion of an amazing very effeminate figure. On the other hand, there are designers who give the bride the feeling that despite if it being a wedding gown, the bride is getting a trendy and fun gown without feeling as if she is in fancy dress. Moreover, in between these two cases, there are many designers and many styles.
So how do you choose – firstly you go through all the leading websites on the internet and choose about 5 designers that you like the best. Alternatively, you can do the same with a printed catalog:
After we’ve selected the top three we arrange meetings with everyone involved. In every meeting, there are several things you have check. the process is a long one, between three to the eight sessions until you leave with your dress on your arm. Therefore, it is important that you feel comfortable with the designer, and you feel good being with her. Remember that ultimately you need to enjoy the experience and not only the result, and if the designer is not pleasant in the first meeting, than she will probably be even less pleasant the rest of the time. In the meeting, you will try on several dresses until you find the one you love and of course, your mom dislikes and vice versa. The ones who have a mom with the same mindset are rare; hence, it is advisable that you arrive on your own or with a good friend on your wavelength. Obviously, after you finally make your choice, the minute you get home you’ll think that the other dress you didn’t choose is actually prettier. In brief, the choosing the dress phase is long and must be fun. In the end you should choose the dress designer who understands you the best and – believe me – you are going to need every ounce of patience and tolerance you can muster, because, if you think you are the queens of self-control, you will find that from the moment you put on that bridal gown, a kind of spell overtakes you. We are all very sensitive
another very important point is that when you try on a dress, see yourself in the mirror and nearly faint, wow, how amazing, like a movie star/princess. Then the evil demon will appear and say: “choose this one, it’s amazing”. Then the good demon will remind you that: “Soon you’ll be out of breath, so you might as well start breathing, and that the cleavage is certainly amazing but doesn’t allow you to budge more than twenty degrees in each direction, and your walking and dancing skills are not that great..
At such moments, we have to remind ourselves why we are actually here. We are here because we are going to get married with the man we love and this is what we are celebrating so choose the dress in which you will feel the prettiest and the most feminine in, but at the same time celebrate and enjoy and not feel like a mummy on your most special day.
Enjoy.
